Description:
Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention public education program. It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services. Certificate issued on successful completion from National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
Objective:

AFTER THE COURSE, participants will be able to:

1.      Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.

2.      Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.

3.      Understand how to interact with a person in crisis.

4.      Know how to connect a person with help.

5.      Use self-care tools and techniques.

Session Notes:
Two hours self-paced online course work is required to attend the virtual session.  You will not be admitted if the pre-work is not completed. You will need to accept the invite from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for the pre-work.  You will be unregistered if the pre-work is not completed within a week and your spot will be given to someone else.
