Description:
This course is designed to prepare attendees who work within the DBH system to be experts in the provision of person centered care. This course focuses specifically on treatment planning as part of the recovery process. Participants will examine the benefits of the person centered approach to care and learn best practices for writing treatment plan components through this lens. Through experiential case studies, participants will explore the philosophy and practical application of person centered care to develop treatment plans using DBH’s Practice Guidelines for Person Centered Care. Objective:
1. Describe the benefits of a person-centered approach to treatment planning
2. Differentiate between person-centered treatment and traditional approaches
3. Explain the DBH person-centered approach to identifying goals, strengths, and barriers
4. Write effective person-centered, outcome-oriented objectives using the SMART framework
5. Develop intervention statements that meet the who, what, when, and why criteria
6. Apply DBH Practice Guidelines to write person-centered treatment plans
Intended Audience:
This course is intended for clinical supervisors, executive and quality
improvement staff, case managers/supervisors, peers, and any other direct
service staff who may be involved in treatment planning.  Audience members should have a working knowledge of fundamental behavioral health concepts.
