· Apply validated tools to screen for and identify problematic alcohol use and AUD across the severity spectrum.
· Deliver brief interventions using motivational interviewing techniques and facilitate effective referral to treatment.
· Identify and manage evidence-based pharmacotherapy and supportive treatment approaches for patients with AUD.
· Facilitate screening, brief intervention, and treatment strategies into a coordinated continuum of care by applying these skills to complex, realistic patient cases.

• Describe the SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) model and its evidence base.
• Apply core motivational interviewing (MI) skills to reduce ambivalence and strengthen change talk.
• Deliver a structured brief intervention within a time-limited clinical encounter.
• Facilitate warm, effective referral to specialty addiction treatment.
