Screening and Identification of
Problematic Alcohol Use and Alcohol Use Disorder
• Describe the spectrum of unhealthy
alcohol use, from risky drinking to severe AUD.
• Apply validated screening instruments
(e.g., AUDIT, AUDIT-C, single-item screen) in clinical practice.
• Differentiate screening from
diagnosis using DSM-5-TR criteria.
• Identify practical “pearls” for
efficient, accurate screening in real-world clinical settings.
