Substance use prevention often has limited resources to achieve its goals. When potential opportunities arrive to relieve capacity constraints, prevention professionals should evaluate and determine whether to pursue them. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is one such opportunity. But before taking advantage of GenAI, you need to understand what AI is (and is not) effective at accomplishing. You also need to know how to efficiently and ethically use AI and establish a process for deciding when and how to use it. This training will introduce AI to substance use prevention professionals and explore how to determine for yourself when and how to use AI.

Objective:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Recognize types of AI and methods of interacting with AI.

Develop a process for determining when using AI can add value.

Identify opportunities for implementing AI into existing workflows.

Identify circumstances where using AI is inappropriate.

Intended Audience:
Behavioral Health Service Providers
