Description:

This training provides a brief overview of problem gambling as an emerging public health concern, including current trends, risk factors, warning signs, and the impact of gambling-related harm on individuals, families, and communities. Participants will examine how gambling marketing, advertising, and messaging influence behavior, particularly among youth and other vulnerable groups. The session also explores the Institute of Medicine Model of Prevention and reviews universal, selective, and indicated strategies that can be integrated into existing behavioral health prevention efforts. In addition, participants will discuss responsible gambling tools, resources, and practical approaches. This interactive session is designed to strengthen participants’ ability to recognize gambling-related concerns and apply prevention strategies in their communities.
Objective:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to: 

       Analyze real-world gambling marketing and messaging tactics.

       Identify universal, selective, and indicated gambling specific prevention strategies.

       Discuss responsible gambling tools and resources.

You must attend both parts of this webinar series to receive 2.5 credits (Upstream Approaches to Problem Gambling: Prevention in Practice & Recognizing and Responding to Gambling Disorder). Those who attend only one part of this series will only be eligible to receive 1.25 credits.

This training is in partnership with the Central East Prevention Technology Transfer Center (CE PTTC) and will be held as a live webinar on Zoom. The Central East PTTC is managed by The Danya Institute. Zoom login information will be sent, from the Danya Institute to all registered participants at least one day in advance of the training.
