Prevention professionals are being asked to give their best in a season marked by shifting priorities, growing demands, and constant change. Even the most committed helpers can find themselves carrying emotional weight that builds quietly over time. Compassion fatigue, stress, and the pressure to stay resilient can begin to blur purpose and drain energy.

Drop Those Rocks is a live, interactive virtual retreat designed specifically for prevention and behavioral health professionals who are ready to move beyond surface-level conversations about self-care and resilience and into something deeper, more sustaining, and more meaningful.

This experience creates intentional space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most, both personally and professionally.

Objective:

Part 1 Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate their personal "why" and the core values that drew them into prevention work, and describe how those values connect to their current role and professional identity
  • Identify at least two emotional or cognitive patterns contributing to compassion fatigue, burnout, or diminished focus, and apply a research-informed framework for beginning to reframe or release them
  • Apply at least one evidence-based strategy for sustaining motivation and professional commitment while acknowledging the weight of compassion fatigue and ongoing stress on prevention professionals.
  • Develop meaningful peer connection with colleagues across organizations and states, drawing on social support research that links professional community to reduced isolation and improved resilience.

Part 2 Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the three remaining framework components to identify specific thought and behavior patterns that limit professional effectiveness and personal renewal.
  • Stimulate at least two evidence-based language and mindset strategies for shifting from reactive to intentional responses in high-demand prevention work.
  • Develop a personal commitment plan that identifies which patterns to release and which renewal practices to sustain beyond the training experience.
  • Assess their current self-care practices and produce a concrete action plan for sustaining professional well-being in their specific work context.

Intended Audience:

Behavioral Health Professionals
