Recognize the historical context of past response to substance use to identify ways to change our current practices and policies to promote improved health and equitable access and outcomes.
2. Recognize the importance of treating opioid use disorder in pregnancy for both the parent and infant.
3. Identify ways practitioners can put into place the learning and measures needed to ensure equitable access and outcomes for people who are pregnant and parenting including those with substance use disorders.
4. Prepare and execute appropriate treatment plans for opioid use disorder in the parent and fetus, as well as for neonatal abstinence syndrome in the infant during peripartum and postpartum period.
5. Develop a conversation about what is going on in your area to enhance equity, what partnerships can be developed, what changes may be needed and how this can happen.
