Description:

Responding to Suicide Risk in Crisis Situations is a suicide risk Assessment training designed to provide participants with practical tools and strategies to recognize, assess, and respond to individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors. Through a combination of instruction, discussion, and case-based learning, attendees will explore the risk and protective factors associated with suicide, learn how to conduct a thorough suicide risk assessment, and practice applying evidence-informed approaches in real-world scenarios.

Participants will gain increased confidence in identifying warning signs, asking direct and compassionate questions, determining levels of risk, and implementing appropriate next steps, including safety planning and referral. This training is ideal for mental health professionals, school counselors, healthcare providers, and others in helping roles who may encounter individuals at risk.

By the end of this session, participants will be better prepared to intervene effectively, support those in crisis, and contribute to suicide prevention efforts within their professional settings.

·       Identify common warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors associated with suicide.

·       Demonstrate the ability to ask direct, compassionate questions about suicidal thoughts and behaviors and develop a safety plan.

·       Demonstrate understanding and skill in conducting a structured suicide risk assessment using evidence-based tools and frameworks.

·       Evaluate the level of suicide risk (low, moderate, high) and determine appropriate interventions.
