Motivational Interviewing Training-of-Trainers

Course Objective:

  1. Explain the core concepts of MI:   MI Spirit, Sustain Talk vs. Change Talk,Change Plan Discussion
  2. Describe how MI fits with the Trans theoretical Model of Stages of Change.
  3. Differentiate between MI Consistent and MI Inconsistent
  4. List ways to assess staff's MI proficiency.
  5. Demonstrate MI's effectiveness through experiential learning and practice.  
  6. Explain how the adoption of MI can improve new documentation requirements.

Course Description:

This is a 4-day training of trainers in motivational interviewing. This workshop will provide an overview of the spirit, strategies, and skills of motivational interviewing (MI) for behavior change. A combination of response exercises, video demonstrations, and role plays will be used. This training will enhance MI skill level and help participants explore ways to teach and implement motivational interviewing into their respective organizations.
