Description:
Accessing care, attending appointments, participation in treatment planning and care can all be negatively affected by a client’s trauma history. A provider who understands how trauma affects behavior, cognitive processes, and engagement with care can better engage in affected clients in outreach and prevention efforts. This event givers providers insights into how their work is affected by a client’s trauma history and what strategies can improve access and utilization of care.
Objective:
  1. Recite the ways in which a significant trauma history affects information sharing, appointment attendance, engagement in care and treatment participation.
  2. Explore strategies to recognize trauma reactivity and trauma survival behavior that can derail access and utilization of care for Substance Use Disorder.
  3. Explain how they will integrate this information into their current level of practice to ensure improved access to and success in Substance Use Disorder treatment efforts.
Intended Audience:
This training content would support Prevention Professionals, Social workers, and Therapists
