Description:

This training session will prepare participants to instruct practitioners within their agencies on the use and application of the LOCUS instrument and web-based LOCUS application. They will become proficient in understanding the principles that are built into the instrument and the criteria within each dimension. They will also be taught how to authorize staff to access and use the internet-based LOCUS application. The final element of this course will allow participants the opportunity to teach back their understanding of the principles and use of the LOCUS instrument to ensure they are prepared to teach the course at their respective agencies.

Objective:


  1. Define and differentiate the six assessment dimensions.

  2. Define and differentiate the six levels of care. 

  3. Demonstrate the ability to teach back the six assessment dimensions and levels of care. 

  4. Demonstrate use of web-based LOCUS assessment and scoring tool.

  5. Appropriately score a case vignette using the LOCUS scoring protocol tool.

  6. Identify role as a LOCUS trainer for agency.

Driving Directions:
64 New York Avenue is located at the intersection of Florida, New York and First Streets, NE. Metro: Take the red line to the Noma/Gallaudet University (previously called New York Avenue) metro stop. Walk west on N Street and turn right at 1st Street NE. Cross over New York Avenue. You will see a large clock tower with the number 64. Enter through the gate and walk toward the first entrance of the building.
Parking:
There are three parking lots for attendees that charge between $9-12, regardless of duration. The two outside lots only accept cash payment. There is also street parking in the blocks adjacent to 64 NY Avenue, but be mindful of posted restrictions.
