Description:

This event will provide an overview of the criminal justice system including charges, the court process, working with individuals in jail and prison and coordinating services with supervision agencies.

Objective:

1.       Identify different courts, court personnel; and court proceedings in order to best support consumers being arraigned in court.

2.       Describe different detention status and facilities associated with the D.C. Department of Corrections and the U.S Bureau of Prison.

3.       Define the mission and purpose of each of the three supervision agencies in the District of Columbia and how to work with them to best support behavioral health consumers complete the terms of their supervision.

Driving Directions:
64 New York Avenue is located at the intersection of Florida, New York and First Streets, NE. Metro: Take the red line to the Noma/Gallaudet University (previously called New York Avenue) metro stop. Walk west on N Street and turn right at 1st Street NE. Cross over New York Avenue. You will see a large clock tower with the number 64. Enter through the gate and walk toward the first entrance of the building.
Parking:
There is a small parking lot with very limited available spaces. However, there is street parking in the blocks adjacent to 64 NY Avenue, but be mindful of posted restrictions.
