Description:

This is a prerequisite (pre-field and field) training that prepares potential new reviewers to utilize the Community Services Review (CSR) for a Child and Family Protocol Version 4.0. The clinical protocol  is used to educate individuals on the case based CSR process to appraise current Consumer status with the past 30 days, Consumer Progress within the past 180 days and Performance of the Mental Health System in  the past 90 days.  Following a competency examination, the potential new reviewer will utilize the information learned in the training to participate as a shadow reviewer with a CSR mentor lead reviewer in the field who will demonstrate the reviewer role and process. The CSR mentor reviewer will then assess the competency, support and monitor the trainee’s performance in conducting a CSR case review. Once the classroom and field training (participation as a shadow in two reviews) is completed the new reviewer will then lead a review and receive an assessment from a qualified lead reviewer.

Objective:

1.       Identify the purpose and process of the CSR.

2.       Accurately apply CSR protocol indicators using a case-based simulation as part of the training exercises.

3.       Accurately apply 80 percent of the CSR protocol indicators to a case-based simulation competency exam.

4.       Identify interview and feedback strategies used during the CSR review.

5.       Define the roles of the lead and shadow reviewers.

6.       Implement the assigned role, demeanor, discipline, and duties of a CSR reviewer in actual field-work activities - first as a shadow reviewer and then as a lead reviewer.
