Description:

This is a foundational training to reinforce the DBH Basic Functions of Quality Practice.  The five key elements of practice provide a framework that sets forth the actions/functions to be used by frontline practitioners to partner with a person receiving service in order to bring about positive life changes.  Training will introduce Adult and Child Principles of Practice, Adult Recovery Model and Children’s System of Care Principles.  The training will introduce basic functions of practice to include:  Engaging Service Partners; Assessing and Understanding the Situation; Planning Positive Life-Changing Interventions; Implementing Services; and Getting and Using Results. Individuals will reinforce their learning though an interactive discussion with the trainer where participants can use current cases and or simulations to identify examples of good practice.  The information from all classroom participants will be solicited thus using prior experiences to support the learning objectives.      

Objective:

1.       Identify 3-4  DBH Practice Principles for Adults or Children

2.       Identify the five functions of quality practice.

Driving Directions:
64 New York Avenue is located at the intersection of Florida, New York and First Streets, NE. Metro: Take the red line to the Noma/Gallaudet University (previously called New York Avenue) metro stop. Walk west on N Street and turn right at 1st Street NE. Cross over New York Avenue. You will see a large clock tower with the number 64. Enter through the gate and walk toward the first entrance of the building.
Parking:
There is a small parking lot with very limited available spaces. However, there is street parking in the blocks adjacent to 64 NY Avenue, but be mindful of posted restrictions.
